    Network Taps

Simena's Network Taps are part of Simena's complete monitoring solution.

Simena has many models of fiber network taps for 10GE, 1GE and 100M Ethernet networks, and copper taps for 1GE and 100M Ethernet connections.

Simena's passive network taps allow users to connect and disconnect monitoring systems without effecting the production network traffic.

    FIBER NETWORK TAPS

    • Compact total solution
    • High port density, up to 16 taps in 1RU
    • Does not require power
    • Passive monitoring

Simena’s fiber taps are passive, with LC Connectors for fiber optic Gigabit (1G), 10 Gigabit (10G) or ATM links. They are available in Multi Mode (SX) and Single Mode (LX/ZX) with different split ratios. The rack-mountable fiber taps have the highest port density for a tap solution. Up to 16 ports can be rack mounted in one rack unit (RU) space. Once in place, they enable the monitoring of half/full duplex fiber networks and allow the moving of test equipment without breaking the circuit.

Simena fiber taps are transparent to the network and non-intrusive for 100% security. The Permanent Network Link feature guarantees a permanent network connectivity. Unlike SPAN ports, it can monitor all seven protocol layers and any packet size including errors. High Quality (low loss) Zirconia sleeve adapters are used in both Multi and Single Mode models. The fiber taps split the laser light from the tapped fiber network such that some of the light continues down the tapped link and the rest is diverted to the tap. They can be ordered in any of the following Network/Tap ratios: 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, 80/20, 90/10.

Simena fiber taps come in 3 models:

    • Single line modular tap that can be rack mounted up to 3 units, resulting in 3 tap lines in one RU.
    • Quad line modular tap that can be rack mounted up to 3 units, resulting in 12 tap lines in one RU.
    • 16 line rack mountable tap

    COPPER NETWORK TAPS

    • Link/Activity LEDs
    • Link redundancy
    • Redundant external power supply
    • Daisy chained power supply
    • High port density, up to 8 taps in 1RU

Simena’s copper taps are half/full duplex Tap for 10/100/1000BaseT networks. They can be used as a permanent network link with no packet loss. Once in place, they enable the monitoring of half/full duplex packet traffic and allow the moving of test equipment without breaking the circuit.

The copper tap is fully transparent to network devices and will mirror full duplex traffic as if monitoring devices were in-line. It requires no IP address and is none-intrusive for 100% security. Unlike SPAN ports, it can monitor all seven (7) protocol layers and any packet size including errors. The Permanent Network Link feature guarantees permanent network connectivity even in the event of a power failure. It works at distances over 100 meters (300 feet). The copper tap is rack mountable and designed for redundant networking. Any network link failure will activate auto-negotiation and transfer data to the redundant path. It consumes very little power and does not require an internal fan for cooling. The power supply daisy-chain feature allows several units to be powered by a single PSU.

Simena copper taps come in 2 models:

    • Single line modular tap that can be rack mounted up to 3 units, resulting in 3 tap lines in one RU.
    • 8 line rack mountable tap
