Traffic
Generators, TG2000 and
TG1000 area unique test equipment for proactive and
effective tests. Their patent-pending Capture and Replay ™ feature
can be used to capture high speed real-time data such as VoIP
or IPTV streams without affecting the quality. Captured files
can be replayed at the same characteristics or at different speeds
or to different destinations. Alternatively, they can be transferred
over network for further analysis or for replaying at another
location.
Capture files are compatible with Ethereal and other pcap based analyzers.
Traffic
Generator
also provides true gigabit wire speed (1.4 million pps per port) and controllable Traffic
Injector ™. It
can easily saturate gigabit Ethernet connections with traffic
characterized by Ethernet, IP addresses, and TCP/UDP port numbers.
Packet size and traffic rate can be specified in several ways.
In addition, source and destination addresses, several other
protocol fields and packet sizes can be incremented, decremented
or randomized to create more realistic load effects.
Traffic
Generator
can also be used for RFC 2544 network measurements to
measure latency, bandwidth, packet loss and other characteristics on multiple streams.
The results are displayed in real-time in tabular format. Users
can also save the results in CSV formatted files.
Simena
Traffic Generators are also capable of emulating BGP protocol
by establishing neighbor connections to many BGP routers and
sending all kinds of BGP messages. They can also be used for
generating multiple stateful TCP connections.
Traffic
Generator comes in two models as TG2000 and TG1000
which are both multi-user, multi-port and portable appliance.
It can be either mounted on a standard 19” rack or it can
be used as a desktop traffic generator. It is completely
managed by web GUI.

Traffic
Capture and Replay ™

Traffic
Generator
captures high speed data packets and saves them for future analysis
or for replaying them at different locations. Capturing can be selective
by using packet
filters and by number of packets.
Later,
captured packets can be replayed as they are , or they can
be modified including their payloads. In addition, they can be sent
at the exact speed or at different packet or bit rates. Capture and
Replay ™ feature
preserves the quality of data packets even at high traffic speeds for
accurate and effective tests of IPTV, Video on Demand, VoIP, and other
real-time streaming technologies.
Capture Features
· Unlimited captures of data packets
in real-time with extensive packet filters from layer-1 to 7.
· Captures packets inline while forwarding live traffic, eliminates the need for span ports or tap devices.
· Capture size can be specified by number of packets or file size.

Gigabit Wire Speed Traffic
Injector ™

Traffic
injection is another powerful feature of Traffic
Generator. This feature
allows users to generate very flexible Ethernet, VLAN, IP, IPV6, TCP,
UDP and any custom protocol with custom payloads. To generate realistic
traffic, address, port, any 2 byte data fields as well as packet size
may be modified on every packet. Modifications can be done by means
of incrementing, decrementing or randomizing. Every checksum field
is recomputed for every packet by default.
The
traffic amount can be specified by amount of packets, packet rate,
bit rate, or time duration. Alternatively the traffic can be sent continuously
at maximum speed. Up to 10 independent traffic streams
can be generated per port.

to use Web GUI makes traffic generation one-minute long task.

2544 Network Performance Measurements

Traffic Generators also implement RFC 2544 network performance measurements.
By generating packets with time stamps and sequence numbers users can
measure latency, bandwidth, packet loss, amount of duplicate packets,
and amount of out-of-order packets on multiple streams either in one direction or in both directions. Measurement results are displayed
in a real-time tabular format. Users
can also save the results in CSV formatted files.
Statistics




Traffic
Generator
has several statistics capabilities. It can show the packet send rate
in packets and bits per second in tabular format. Similarly, it can
display the throughput in graphical format. In addition, by means of
the packet analysis tool, users can decode data packets in real time,
optionally with packet filters.
