Press Release Simena® Announces World's Smallest True Wire Speed Network Emulator Sterling, VA, May 16, 2007 — Simena, the innovative provider of high performance network test equipment announced the release of its highly anticipated new product, world’s smallest wire speed network emulator, NE1000. Simena’s engineers have created NE1000 to help users to modify the content and transmission characteristics of data packets at gigabit true wire speed in its rack mountable, 1U high, 15” deep chassis. With its incredibly portable size, the product can also be used as a desktop unit. NE1000 can impair Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP and other packets at an aggregate rate of 3 million packets per second. By using extended filters, users are able to pick specific packets to expose to network impairments. These extended filters are formed by combining individual packet filters by using the Boolean operators. Each packet filter can be defined based on any protocol field, packet size or up to 20-byte long data pattern which can be anywhere inside the packet including payloads. The pattern based packet filter type which is called “custom filter” ™ is used for filtering custom applications or new protocols. NE1000 can also be utilized for packet generation at gigabit true wire speed to create background or network stress traffic. NE1000 can be ordered immediately as either two or four port network emulator. Simena’s network emulators using patent pending technologies are appliances that emulate network conditions and problems on a live traffic to allow realistic testing of network applications and equipment. These products, which are widely used by VoIP, Video on Demand, IPTV, and storage based service providers, and equipment manufacturers, help users to save money and time during QA tests as well as to minimize the application failures and the service interruptions. Simena Network Emulators come in several models to meet various user requirements and budgets. Simena’s products enable users to proactive and effective network testing. One of the major product lines, Network Emulators are multi-user and multi-port appliances that emulate network conditions and problems on a live traffic to allow realistic testing of network applications and equipment. Widely used by VoIP, Video on Demand, IPTV, and other Internet based service providers, and equipment manufacturers; these products help customers to save money and time as well as minimize the application failures and the service interruptions. Simena Network Emulators come in four different models to meet various user requirements and budget. Simena Traffic Generators are on the other hand, with the patent-pending Capture&Replay™ feature can be used to capture high speed real-time data packets such as VoIP or IPTV streams without affecting the quality, as well as to generate dynamic packet traffic.
